Sisters Standing and Sharing Together

we all know how it can be.  life takes it turns - twists and for believers we know that God delights in the details (even if we don't know the details).  carrie, jacqueline and i worked together for years.  day in an day out at christian television network we worked together, prayed together, laughed together and sometimes cried together.  most of all we recognized we were sisters in Christ.  sisters standing together by faith. since this picture was taken in december 2007 lots of things … [Read more...]

5 Weeks and Counting – Sisters & Friends

we've got just about 5 weeks before it's time for Sisters Standing Together. several weeks ago i felt the Lord put it on my heart to host a women's conference.  i specifically felt impressed that it should be a day back to the Basics - or back to the heart of our Father.  a day to worship Him for who He is.  a day to honor Him and celebrate our sisterhood in Christ. as you read the Bible you see whether it's ruth and naomi or mary and elizabeth - as God brings women together the miraculous … [Read more...]

Mortgages, Downpayments, & Foreclosures

i'm old enough to remember when a down payment was required for every mortgage.  even if you had excellent credit a 20% down payment was the standard for a convention mortgage. i clearly remember when my husband and i were 22 years old and applying for our first mortgage.  we were just out of college - we had excellent credit, and good jobs.  the banker explained that a 20% down payment was necessary (even with good employment history and excellent credit).  of course, i asked why?  i … [Read more...]

cutbacks, setbacks, adversity

just today i learned of another job layoff.  pretty much these days we're hearing about that a lot.  the news of the down turned economy sends fear into some people's souls.  even some of the most faith filled people i know have taken a pause to reconsider - reinvest - and re-evaluate. in the midst of all that it's also wise to reconsider the Goodness of our God.  to reinvest our life and our time into His His Kingdom and His priorities.  as we re-evaluate we can look at how we spend … [Read more...]

Sisters Standing Together

one of my favorite stories in scripture is about the apostle paul.  basically, a group of "religious" people get all stirred up about him preaching the gospel and the signs and wonders that follow. these religious people got all stirred up - they ended up beating him and dragging him to the city gates and leaving him for dead.  thankfully though, the story doesn't end that way......a group of believers go the city gates and stand around paul until he gets back up. when paul gets back up he … [Read more...]

Emails/Technology

i'm old enough to remember when everybody didn't have a computer.  i'm old enough to remember when people didn't email or cell phones.  i know it's hard to imagine a day and age in which computers weren't everywhere and everyone didn't have a cell phone.  but there was such an age and somehow someway we managed to go to school, conduct business, pay bills, and have fun. i traveled to memphis this week and took my lap top.  that way i can stay connected via email and "never skip a beat".  … [Read more...]

Holiday Traditions – Good Times – Resurrection Day

today was a really wonderful day. i had a busy week.  several television tapings.  lots of planning.  today though was an unscheduled, unhurried, relaxing day. i know many people and churches are gearing up for tomorrow's resurrection day celebration.  i saw on facebook how one church was having an indoor easter egg hunt with thousands of eggs.  i know from personal experience that all of that takes a great deal of planning - and work.  i am so thankful that today i didn't have a day … [Read more...]

Dr. Phil’s Show on Teens

this week dr. phil broadcast a show on teens. the objective of the show was to let parents know about some of the current trends/activities of some of today's teens.  the show did an outstanding job of informing and warning parents about some of the at-risk behaviors of some teenagers.  these at-risk behaviors included drug usage, teen games that include making themselves pass out, and sexting.......... all of the at-risk behavior talked about on the show broken my heart.  the point to … [Read more...]

Opinion Polls

i think we all know that opinion polls waver by the moment.  one moment public opinion is that there is hope for economic recovery - the next moment NO HOPE.  even the most popular politician, actor, or person can rise or fall on the opinion or popularity poll at any given moment. even with knowing that we can all battle with trying to please others and win their approval.  most of live by what i call "OPO" or other people's opinions.  i was just struggling with that today when i made a … [Read more...]
