Is starting or finishing the race what matters most?

He finished over an hour later than the last Olympic marathon runner in 1968.  During the race he fell and was badly injured.  He finished anyway.

By the time he finished the race the crowd had dwindled.  There was  faint cheer as he crossed the finish – and yet he finished.  A reporter asked him basically “why did you finish the race knowing you were so far  behind, injured and last?”.

The Olympic marathon runner replied because “My country did not send me to the Olympics to start the race but to finish”.  I thought what an attitude.  What an understanding of  mission, purpose and values in life.  I compared his statement to the spiritual realm and how God did not put us on earth to simply start but to finish the course He sets us for each one of us.

On that course there are many challenges, obstacles, hindrances.  Whether it’s a financial reversal, a relationship failure, job loss, death of a loved one or child we all have life events that derail us from the “finish”.   Sometimes, it seems we’re so far behind or so injured taht our “finish doesn’t matter”.  But it does.  With this in mind I’ve put together a 6 week online Bible study complete with study guides, scriptures, and videos on “Finishing Well”.  Once you sign up you’ll automatically receive the study guides via email so it’s easy – you need do nothing beside sign up.

This 6 week study doesn’t start until the week of January 21st.  That gives all of us plenty of time to celebrate and recover from the holiday season.  This 6 week online Bible study will help us not only establish New Year’s Resolutions – but keep them.

Just go to the home page of www.monicaspeaks.com and to the right you’ll see  “subscribe here” enter  your email address, follow the instructions and you’ll be all set.   While you are there you can also “like” the MonicaSpeaksTV page on FB as well.

I look forward to this 6 week online bible study with you.  You don’t have to drive anywhere – be anywhere you can study at your convenience – and participate in interacting with other believers just like you who want to finish this race well.  You see God put us on planet earth to start this race – but He also placed us here to “Finish Well”.  He gives us through Jesus the strength to overcome every obstacle, reversal, loss, heartbreak etc.  Anything life can “throw our way”, He gives us the ability to endure, overcome and enjoy “Finishing Well”.

Shalom,

Monica
